Paras Novel Story Summary

The story follows Paras, a young woman who loses her father and is left to live under the care of her cruel and unkind stepmother, alongside a stepbrother who adds further difficulty to her already hard circumstances. To escape her troubled home life, Paras’s family arranges her marriage to Rizwan, a wealthy businessman considerably older than her, a decision that sets the entire plot of the novel into motion.

Not long into their marriage, Rizwan suddenly dies, plunging Paras into a confusing and dangerous new chapter of her life. Rizwan’s brother, Faizan, becomes central to the story as he begins investigating the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death, slowly uncovering a shocking conspiracy that involves Rizwan’s own sister, Sawera, working alongside Paras’s own stepbrother. As Faizan digs deeper, hidden motives, betrayal, and long buried secrets among the people closest to Paras and Rizwan begin to surface.

In one of the novel’s most talked about twists, Rizwan is ultimately revealed to be alive, a shocking reveal that exposes the true, often selfish colors of nearly everyone around him and Paras. Nimra Ahmed skillfully layers the story so that just as readers believe they have figured out the mystery, a fresh twist reshapes everything they thought they understood. Themes of betrayal, revenge, hatred, and selfishness run throughout the plot, all building toward the moment when Paras finally tears away the mask of fakeness worn by those closest to her. Despite its shorter length compared to Nimra Ahmed’s other novels, Paras delivers romance, suspense, tragedy, and drama in a single tightly woven story, closing with an ending that most readers describe as genuinely unexpected.
